In late February, Marnie Blarney made an appearance at the PLAY Festival in Lisbon. The series was presented at the festival’s Industry meetings just weeks before the cameras start rolling. Being invited to such an event is a fantastic sign—it shows that Marnie’s story resonates far beyond its home borders and has true international appeal.

The gathering brought together producers, writers, and film experts from across the globe. It was the perfect setting to discuss what makes the world of Marnie Blarney so special and to look ahead at the journey the series has in store. Beyond just showcasing the project, the event was a great opportunity to talk about the unique joys and challenges of creating stories for young (and often the most demanding!) audiences.

The workshop also sparked an important conversation: why original local content for children remains surprisingly rare in many countries, including Portugal. The discussion served as a powerful reminder that imaginative, thoughtful stories are more important than ever, and that Marnie is ready to fill that space with her endless imagination.
